@phumoney is back! His highly anticipated solo record “Throw it Back Baby” Out Now!

Boston Culture:There seems to be a Cultural  influence in your music. How has the culture  impacted you?

Phu Money:Growing up in the city while at the same time being an asian american really made me who I am, feel me. Like my folks would be tellin me to keep up with my studies but my friends would always be up to something. So I have to find the fine line between it you know? Also, I’ve always been the kinda weird but funny kid growing up at the same feel me so I always had an entertainer personality to me.

Boston Culture: Talk to us about your relationship with Dolo Gambino.

Phu Money: Mane, me and Dolo go all the way back but at the same time we didn’t haha. We knew each other in all four years in high school but we always did our own thing feel me. Dolo was always reserved and talked to only a few kids. I on the other hand talked to many kids but looking back not all of them were my friends haha. So me and Dolo didn’t really  cliqued until we started working on my first song, HOT POT. I hit Dolo on some “Yo bro I’m trynna get into this music shit but I aint know what I’m doin”. Then the rest is history.

Boston Culture:How did the chemistry between you and Gambino come to be? Was it difficult in the beginning forming that connection?

Phu Money: Hell yeah it was. Dolo always been the reserved typa dude and I always been a little more social. So at first we didn;’t match energy like that but eventually the cards all played into places feel me. Nowadays I can confidently say Dolo is a ride or die.

Boston Culture:Which artists would you like to collaborate with in your career? Phu Money:

Oh mane, too many for me to keep count. If we talking sum goofy fun song I’d mess wit someone like P-Lo. If I was doing a sad lover boy r&b then I’d mess wit someone like RUSSELL! or socalledjay. If I want something that goes hard I would love to collab with someone like MBNel or $tupid Young.

Boston Culture:Who are your musical influences?

Phu Money: Mane I mess with a lot of music. I mess wit mostly underground lesser known artists. Like I love west coast stuff. Anywhere between lil ricefield, seiji oda 247 ze. I also love asian rappers who can rap bout their hardships growing up mlike MBNel or $tupid young. Dont get it twisted though I mess with the more known artists too though. Gunna, Lil tjay, Polo G etc. Yeah I’m all over the place if you finna ask me who’s my influences.

Boston Culture: Where do you see yourself in 5 years.Phu Money:

Mane, I aint too worried bout the future dawg. I hate focusing on shit like that sometimes. I’m  more of a go with the flow kinda dude feel me? Don’t focus too much on the past or future when you cant control it you know what I mean? But if I had to predict mane. I see myself holdin business down somewhere in Beantown while still being in the stu. To me, what could be better?

Boston Culture:What’s your greatest accomplishment in your music career? We’re eager to know

Phu Money:Honestly, I haven’t made much of an impact besides maybe dropping HOT POT. When HOT POT hit 10K,  I was ecstatic. I thought only maybe a few hundred streams was gonna get out of it but quite the opposite happened. A lot of people at my school liked HOT POT which made me feel more confident in staying in the stu. I got some day 1’s back in the Bean supporting me too so I know I got some real 1’s by my side. I know my music aint for everyone but that’s ight. As long as I’m happy with my work that’s all that matter. So yeah, HOT POT hitting 10K was crazy to me. I remember when I first dropped it I was listening to that bih at least 1000 times nonstop. So yeah, 1500 of those streams is from yours truly. lmao.

Boston Culture:Since you’ve been rising in your career, is there anything dropping that we should be on the lookout for?

Phu Money: I wouldn’t say I’m a rising star, I don’t know about all that. But I appreciate it for real. Honestly working on THROW IT BACK BABY was honestly a big step for me. THROW IT BACK BABY is gonna be my first solo song where I don’t gotta feature on it. But if we finna talk upcoming me and Dolo got sum for yall. We always experimentin in da lab.
