Lawrence Bred Trill Kapone drops a movie for "see the light"! Exclusive Q&A

Boston Culture: Where did you grow up? How was that like?

Trill Kapone: Lawrence Massachusetts grew up mid class mom always made sure i had what i needed but as i got older circumstances started getting harder and i started hustlin.

Boston Culture: How did you get your name?

Trill Kapone: Honestly always had it since a youngin my friends and most people in the city would call me trill and i jus added the Kapone because im a big fan of al capone.

Boston Culture: Talk to us about “See The Light” - from its inception stages to the creative visual recording process. How did you and VRTU come up with the initial concept?

Trill Kapone: Well honestly name See The Light came from the verse were i say “i see dat light i see dat light” So that came naturally and when me amd Vrtus tap in we jus brainstorm ideas with him and i and my team and whatever seems best we put in motion.

Boston Culture: What was the best advice you got early in your career?

Trill Kapone: Best advice I've gotten in my career so far would have to be “Focus on what you and your team is doing don't focus and nobody else” thats what really sets the tone in this industry.

Boston Culture: Walk us through the first time you ever made a song. What inspired you, what did you make it on, etc.

Trill Kapone: Making music to me comes real natural and so the first track i ever made was called “gucci bag” currently a private track but had my city bussin and it was just fun i just rapped what was on my mind at the time honestly. But recently started taking music seriously.

Boston Culture: Top 3 favorite producers/rappers?

Trill Kapone: Metro Boomin, 808Mafia, MurdaBeatz and for favorite artist i would say k7, Reaper and chicgibandzz all on my team NTMI.


Boston Culture : Walk us through your creative process in the studio. Do you like to listen to the beats first and write ? Or you’re more of a freestyle to try and get a nice flow?

Trill Kapone: Well me personally i like to waste no time and get straight to work so i hit the stu prepared with lyrics and beats just to make quality bangers.

Boston Culture: What do you dislike about the art world/music industry?

Trill Kapone: Even tho it doesn’t affect me sincerely but all the hate that is in this music industry. That’s probably the worst part of it.


Boston Culture: Who or what are some of your biggest influences? Trill Kapone: Hov, Future, Lil Wayne and etc. but those 3 had a big impact on me.


Boston Culture: Talks to us about your younger mentality.

Trill Kapone: As a younger kid i fell into the wrong groups started getting in trouble did a lotta dumb shit robbing, hustling and etc but my team and my first love was what really got me back on track and focused to stay in my lane and grind.

Boston Culture : What do you think of the music scene in the State? Are there any other Boston producers or artists you'd potentially like to collab with in the future?

Trill Kapone: I think the music scene in the state is very talented but too much hate goes on to collab with people but I'm always down for a feature if it's the right people.

Boston Culture : Tell us about your goals for 2021.

Trill Kapone: By the end of 2021 i will have 10+ videos i will buy my Mommas house i will have no more negative energy in my life and all are dreams will come true!

Boston Culture: Did the pandemic affect any of your plans? What do you miss the most about live performances?

Trill Kapone: The pandemic actually helped me take music seriously because i never had time on my hands so it gave me more time to work on my craft aka my dream. And cant wait for the live shows to happen again!
