Q Boy Entertainment's Dior Stacks drops a movie for "Popeye"-Exclusive Q&A

Dior Stacks been putting in a lot of work. Make sure to check out his latest visual "Popeye" and subscribe to his Youtube and follow him on Spotify! We were able to catch up with Dior Stacks to talk about his mentality, family roots, personal goals and much more!

Boston Culture: Where did you from/ grow up? How was that like?

Dior Stacks: I grew up in Dorchester most of my life. Most of my guys lived on the same strip, we would always meet up on Quincy St. and just start doing whatever, that's where it all started for me. Growing up I aint really have it like that, used to wear the same clothes everyday used to be a struggle, my family ain't have it like that to be buying the newest clothes and all that. That's why I always made sure I had some money in my pockets by any means. It wasn't all that bad, I'm glad I grew up how I did. It's really a motivation to keep going for me. Dorchester is a wild place, I don't think people realize how dangerous it is. I’m glad to be healthy and alive by the grace of God. I always make sure I stay on my toes when I'm in the city a lot happens.

Boston Culture: How did you get your name?

Dior Stacks: Back in school I got “D Stacks” from always hustling making money. Eventually a couple of my peoples came up with the Dior part and haven't looked back since.

Boston Culture: Talk to us about "QStyle" and "Day Ones"

Dior Stacks: I made Day Ones for my Day Ones so it's a personal track for sure. That was the first video I dropped. I shot that in Beverly Hills with my shooter Fuego. I had a good time. We did a couple scenes near Melrose. And we were deep in the video meant a lot to see everything together with my guys. RIP 24.

QStyle I made with MOA Cash that's kind of a freestyle name I trademarked from the Q, We really talk our shit cause we came a long way from where we started. This real life was a freestyle we threw the beat on and laid it out for sure, making music with Cash like second nature that's all we ever did. We shot the video in LA. It was a lituation for sure.

Boston Culture : What was the best advice you got early in your career?

Dior Stacks: The best advice I got was from one of my producers in LA, dude coached me on the ins and outs of the music business, sound production and other good stuff. One of the things I really remember him saying was that the best way to stand out is to not fit in. I'm all about being myself, showing who I really am to the world, I got a story to tell and my supporters see that and see my growth

Boston Culture: What do you dislike about the art world/music industry?

Dior Stacks: I dislike the fact that there's a lot of gatekeeping in the industry. Not everyone gets the same shot because they don't have the same connections. A Lot of dope artists go unnoticed, especially in the city.

Boston Culture: Who or what are some of your biggest influences?

Dior Stacks: I want to be a big influence on my people one day. Nipsey, Jay Z, Drake, Baby are just some of the people I study. The way they present themselves it takes a different type of mindset to lead and not everyone is built for it . I used to listen to Ye, Jay Z, BIG, Nas, 50, Weezy, everyday before school because that's all I was hearing my Pops play. But honestly in terms of sound I'm influenced by all genres of music. I take certains parts of what I like and add it to my style.

Boston Culture: Talks to us about your younger mentality and what allowed you to stay focused on your goals.

Dior Stacks: Ever Since I was young I knew I would be something “D4G”. It used to be about money and fame but now it's switched to building an empire. I would say my hustle and determination helps me stay focused on my goals no matter where I am I always got those two features to rely on. Whatever I do I want to be the best at it , that’s just me.

Boston Culture : What do you think of the music scene in the State? Are there any other Boston producers or artists you'd potentially like to work with for the next project?

Dior Stacks: I think there's a lot of crazy artists in the state, especially the city but not everyone is getting the same opportunity. I do believe the city got talent for sure. Don't have anyone in particular I would work but i'm all about the personal vibe if it clicks we can make a hit for sure.

Boston Culture : Tell us about your goals for 2021.

Dior Stacks: My goal for 2021 is to get better everyday at my craft. Ever since I sat down and decided to take my music seriously I've got better everyday. I think my goal this year is to be consistent all around and keep the ball rolling. I'm releasing my Dayview project sometime this summer, it should be announced within a couple months.

Boston Culture: Did the pandemic affect any of your plans?

Dior Stacks: Pandemic didn't really affect my plans, I made sure I was active even though the Pandemic is hard on artists because of live shows and stuff. But content is key nowadays and I am all about that.

Boston Culture : What brands should sponsor you?

Dior Stacks: Any clothing brand that wants a star to rock their stuff I can do it all, but I would definitely want Dior to show some love for real least they can do.

Boston Culture : How did you get the attention of QBoyEntertainment?

Dior Stacks: QBE actually my label that me and my day one Askie put together. We built on beating the odds no matter how stacked they are. We are a team so everyone puts in quality work so it all looks good. When we put this together though we were thinking big hopefully one day we can partner with a Major Label of sorts.

Boston Culture :Anything else we missed you want to tell your fans?

Dior Stacks: It's up this year I promise many plans in store, many collabs in the works and we all locked in. I’m looking forward to seeing my growth as an artist this year and I hope my supporters are too. It's up from here and when it's all said and done they're gonna see what I came from. Destined 4 Greatness. - Dior Stacks
