Boston's Island Boy: Bigshot

A man of all trades, we have Bigshot here talking about his experiences in the music industry alongside his influences. He talks about his inspirations and how they are riddled in the music he makes today. Read below to hear this up and coming artist.

Boston Culture: Talk to us about your most recent single, My Flex. What is the inspiration behind it?

Bigshot: Well I'm Trinidadian & Montserratian is Island in the Caribbean so I was raised on island music soca, reggae, dancehall and calypso! So showcasing my love for my culture through music was going to be a no brainer at some point. Each of my R&B albums I always throw a "tune" or a "chune" as we call it on there lol. The video was shot in Beverly Hills, LA and by great filmmaker "Volkov Video".

Boston Culture: It seems like you dabble in different genres, from dancehall to hip-hop. Does being able to go between genres make it more challenging for you?

Bigshot: Honestly, this stuff comes natural. I grew up off R&B and island music first and then got into rap and hip hop. For a long time I would just write this kind of music but never record in thoughts of what people or my fans would think till one day I said, " Yo B ? You're YOU. Nothing's gonna change or stop people or ya fans from rocking with You, when you're always being true to yourself. PLUS I CAN RAP CIRCLES AROUND YA FAVORITE MC'S". So why not just add this to my arsenal.

Boston Culture: What is your typical creative process?

Bigshot: I like going through beats and letting the beat tell me what I should be saying on it. Every production has a story already written in it, it just takes the right artist to bring that to life.

Boston Culture: Which artists would you like to collaborate with on your career?

Bigshot: I want to collaborate with Pharrell, "skateboard P", Snoop Dogg, Chris Brown, Wizkid , Westside Gunn and Machel Montano. Oh and for my latin People I wanna work with Sech.

Boston Culture: Is there anything else you would like to tell your fans? Anything we should be looking out for in the future?

Bigshot: To all my fans out there make sure you follow me on Ig: @bigshotsworld and stay tuned for more freestyles, more dope fashion, and more dope videos along with some albums with BARS! "Portrait of a Ryder" & POP (Principles over Popularity) all dropping top of 2022! #DMI

We would like to thank Bigshot for taking the time to answer these questions. Check out his music and experience a whole different sound.
