Boston Bred Artist Lil Ryku has been applying pressure. Born and raised in Massachusetts, Ryku attempts to bring a fresh sound to the culture. Boston Culture: Where did you grow up? How was that like?
Lil Ryku: I grow up here most of my life. Life was chilling for the most part.
Boston Culture: How did you come up with your artist name?
Lil Ryku: I took Goku’s name from DBZ and mixed it with the ancient Egyptian God Ra
Boston Culture: Talk to us about your relationship with your team.
Lil Ryku: I’m happy to have them they go into the jungle with me . I’m talking late nights, long hours ,shady places to get stuff done and help me get to where I need to be.
Boston Culture: What was the best advice you got early in your career?
Lil Ryku: That would be that whatever I’m saying in the music to say it like I mean it , I cant expect the listener to believe me if I don’t believe what I’m saying myself. I got the business mindset in my blood ,a lot of my family members run their own business that’s why I stay grinding and thinking of new ways to put out dope music and make this a reality.
Boston Culture: Walk us through the first time you ever made a song.
Lil Ryku: I think I might have been 9 or 10 and one day I was listening to "Bandoleros" by Don Omar ft Tego , I kept listening to it and thought shit let me grab a tape recorder and just record myself rapping over the music.
Boston Culture: Top 3 favorite producers/rappers?
Lil Ryku: I like a lot of rappers but right now my top 3 would be MoneybagYo Roddy Rich, Rod Wave and producers would be Metro Boomin , tay Keith,and TM88.

Boston Culture : Walk us through your creative process when thinking of ideas.
Lil Ryku: Usually I listen to the beat first and what vibe it’s putting out theres some songs where the lyrics come right away others I take my time with it
Boston Culture: What do you dislike about the art world/music industry?
Lil Ryku: That in the industry it’s not really about talent it’s more about how marketable your brand is .
Boston Culture: Who or what are some of your biggest influences?
Lil Ryku: Drake would be one of them he really was the one that made really incorporate singing in my songs and being melodic . Eminem too with how has has a lot of wordplay 50 Cent, Michael Jackson, The Weeknd, Nav, Lil Uzi, Future Brent Faiyaz , Wisin y Yandel. It’s a vibe
Boston Culture: Talks to us about your younger mentality.
Lil Ryku: I had a lot of distractions growing up but the one thing I always came back to was Music no matter what I always came back to it
Boston Culture : What do you think of the entertainment scene in Boston?
Lil Ryku: I think that there’s a lot of talented young artist here but the way things are set up we don’t get as much love or the right outlets to showcase our talents. I see Millyz is on the come up he’s nice with it shout out to him. It would be cool to work with him
Boston Culture : Tell us about your goals for the rest of 2021 into 2022.
Lil Ryku: I want to get as many people on the wave as possible all 2021-2022 . I got too much music!
Boston Culture: Talk to us about "Summers Over" What do you want fans to get out if listening to this project?
Lil Ryku: It’s a short EP but I want to give a full experience it goes from my RnB vocals for when it’s a chill type of mood to more street for when it’s that type of vibe . You know what I mean I want them to have good quality music in their ears for the occasions.
