Bigshot drops "HYBRID" Rap album and R&B Album Series "SexTape". Exclusive Interview Q&A!

Bigshot’s confident delivery and sharp quick-witted lyrics set him apart from a lot of artists. An artist is grown out of experience and he is no stranger to what the streets and the struggle give birth to. Not only is he a Dope MC, Bigshot is also a vivid writer, creative director and taste maker of style. As a director of his own videos as well as others his understanding of “the culture’ spans far beyond just his lyrics. Bigshot is 1/4th CEO of the label DMI a group comprised of artists, videographers and dancers. We were able to catch up with Bigshot and ask him a few questions regarding his mentality, influences, goals and much more! Make sure to subscribe to his Youtube and Spotify!

Boston Culture: Where did you from/ grow up? How was that like?

Bigshot: I was raised in Brooklyn and grew up in Boston but lived all over the east coast...growing up was tough as usual being poor and always moving around to different cities makes you adapt to different surroundings

Boston Culture: How did you get your name?

Bigshot: I got my name from the streets by always being the flyest, slick talking and hustling ass dude

Boston Culture: Talk to us about "HYBRID".

Bigshot: My last project Hybrid derived from me being from Brooklyn and Boston and also me being able to rap and do r&b I created the project going thru a tough time where I felt music just wasn't grabbing me anymore by the artists content so I literally just started recording no pen no pad the whole album on my own at the crib and sent it out to be mixed and before you know I had mad joints like damn this is the one. I released a bunch of dope videos off the album as well all on my VEVO.

Boston Culture : What was the best advice you got early in your career?

Bigshot: The best advice that I got was to never give up and do music because u love it not to live a certain lifestyle or get women or be cool! I was doing this rap shit when it wasn't cool and nobody was doing it from battle state to state school to school block to block for free with passion.

Boston Culture: What do you dislike about the art world/music industry?

Bigshot: I dislike the fact that you can literally sound like every other rapper and still get clout like you doing something different when really you BITING! Boston Culture: Who or what are some of your influences?

Bigshot: THE STREETS! My surroundings gave me so much to talk about and so much pain style and strength to do what the fuck I want..my influences musically would be reggae and Caribbean music cause thats what was played in my house first but then I got hooked to Snoop Dogg, Wutang, Redman, Mobb Deep, Bjggie, Nas

Boston Culture: Talks to us about your younger mentality and what allowed you to stay focused on your goals.

Bigshot: The love of creativity i get a rush bringing sounds to life from my mind

Boston Culture : What do you think of the music scene in the State? Are there any other Boston producers or artists you'd potentially like to work with for the next project? Bigshot: The music will always be good EVERY state but the culture of the politics is WACK no radio support barely and club support but we all have to continue grinding to change that..I want to work with Statik Selektah , Benzino and Bell Biv Devoe

Boston Culture : Tell us about your goals for 2021.

Bigshot: Goals are to stay consistent dropping dope material I have a R&B project dropping this February called #sextape2 part of a series im doing and kill every radio show such as flex, sway in the morning, kay slay etc.... Boston Culture: Did the pandemic affect any of your plans?

Bigshot: Yeah I had a trip booked to Turks in March a week before pandemic hit ..but I literally been to Puerto Rico and Miami at least 6 times each this whole pandemic so we still moving and grooving on this side.

Boston Culture : What brands should sponsor you? Bigshot: All the fly clothing brands especially BLACK OWNED lets work! Boston Culture :Anything else we missed you want to tell your fans?

Bigshot: I wanna tell my fans to stay solid and stay watching cause I got a story to tell!
